Job's Daughters has a rich heritage and tradition. The group was founded in 1920 to provide an opportunity for young women to work together, to learn about themselves and to help others. Job's
Daughters is open to girls ages 10 to 20 who have a Masonic Heritage. We do not follow any specific religion, but do require that our members have a belief in God.
For over 90 years, Job's Daughters has been actively promoting friendship and service. The organization was founded by Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick in Omaha, Nebraska. The group takes its name from the Book of Job, and in particular to a reference in the 42nd Chapter that says, "And in all the land were no women found so fair as the Daughters of Job."
Meetings follow a long tradition of order. The Officers wear traditional Grecian robes, symbols of democracy and equality, provided by the Bethel. Other members wear dresses to meetings. Meetings are held twice a month. Programs are planned and conducted by the members with the help of adult volunteers.
Core Values- “In all the land were no women found so fair as the Daughters of Job and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren” Job 42:15 This is the verse upon which Job’s Daughters is built.
1. We maintain an unyielding desire to make our world better through our youth.
Job’s Daughters International exists for and by our Daughters. We believe that we can make the world a better place by offering young women a safe and positive environment in which to grow, develop long friendships, and learn important skills that will guide them to productive and successful lives.
2. We believe in a Supreme Being and the teachings of the Holy Bible.
Our teachings reflect the opportunity to follow a life of strong morality and service to a Supreme Being.
3. We embrace the idea that everyone has an opportunity to make a positive contribution.
Our organization cannot exist without input from everyone, Daughters and adults alike. Everyone has ideas that can make a positive difference in our organization and in the society we live in. All ideas need to be heard.
4. We can accomplish anything by uniting our talents and embracing our differences.
We exist because we share the belief that no one can go it along; that life without genuine and lasting relationships is without happiness and fulfillment. The individual has the power to make positive decisions that impact everyone.
